I spent basically all of last weekend in a darkened auditorium (not an unusual place for me), photographing the spring recitals of the Westport Academy of Dance. Now, dance has never really been my "thing" - I was not one of those little girls that begged her mother to take ballet and yearned for my own pair of ballet slippers - in fact, my mother begged ME to take dance classes. Alas, it was not for me - too "girly", or so little tomboy me thought.
That being said, I LOVE to watch these young women do their stuff - I completely admire the skill, dedication and discipline of fine dancers, of which there are many at the Academy. And, I love to capture them on "film" - pretty bodies in pretty motion in pretty light - what's better?
Here are some shots from last weekend...
Love these little faces, taken backstage at the younger girls' recital...

Little Black Dress
I always jump at the opportunity to photograph live theatre, so when my friend Ari Edelson called on me to photograph his latest show, LITTLE BLACK DRESS, I was thrilled to do so.
The show runs at a cool space that I had never been to - the Theatre at St. Clements - tickets can be found here. Great performances and a fabulous script by Ronan Noone - don't miss this exciting piece!
